During my break I read Dune and Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. At first I was a bit skeptical because I am not really into science fiction novels; they are usually hard to understand. So when I first started reading Dune I did not really understand what was going on, but reading further on I was getting the story. The story gets deeper and you feel the characters. What I like about it is that you are able to get into their minds and know what they are really thinking. The plot of the story is actually interesting and something literally "out of this world." I loved the twist and turns of this series. The action in this serious is pretty bad ass. The fact that there are massive worms in it is pretty crazy. The only thing I felt that was hard to understand was a bunch of the words used in the book. But it was pretty helpful with the dictionary in the back. But flipping back and forth was pretty annoying. If you did not know what the word meant, then you are pretty much lost throughout the book. But other than that, I like the fact that Spice was their "drug." Their gateway to things. Addiction has always been interesting, observing those (on television) who are hurting themselves because of their poor choices. But knowing that they feel invincible is crazy. Today in society you see more and more people trading their precious lives for the path way to drugs, to simply get away, get away from reality. That is sort of how it is in Dune, Spice is their number one drug choice, and the way of getting it is life threatening.
This book series in general is a great read, and if you are into action, love, science fiction and some crazy trippy stuff, then you'll definitely love this book. Happy Reading!
